Tongarewa Scholarship for International Students

The Victoria University of Wellington is offering candidates Tongarewa Scholarship for International Students for the 2022/2023 academic session to celebrate the University’s commitment to its international student community. Eligible candidates are those either entering their first year of an undergraduate degree or entering a postgraduate degree programme at Victoria University of Wellington. Recipients are expected to act as Ambassadors for Victoria University of Wellington and participate in appropriate events or marketing if requested.

Up to 10 scholarships of NZ$10,000 for Undergraduate and Masters degrees and up to 9 scholarships of NZ$5,000 for Masters degrees only that will be paid towards your tuition fees for 1 year of study.

Recipients are guaranteed an offer of a place in the Halls of Residence, provided an accommodation application is received by the Accommodation Service by the required deadline.

The Tongarewa Scholarships is a partial fee-based scholarship that will go towards tuition fees for one year of study to award a range of these scholarships to international students each year as well as encourage educational and social inclusion, equality, and works with focus, commitment, and ambition.

Tongarewa Scholarship for International Students’ Eligibility:

Eligible Countries: International students from all countries are eligible to apply.
Eligible Course or Subjects: Undergraduate and Master’s programmes guided at the Victoria University of Wellington can be applied for.
Applicants must be international students who are paying full international fees and are either joining their first year of an undergraduate degree or joining a postgraduate degree.
Applicants should have received an offer of place from Victoria University of Wellington (conditional or unconditional).

Application Procedure:

How to Apply for the Tongarewa Scholarship for International Students: To be eligible for the Tongarewa Scholarship’s application, you must submit a completed copy of your online application before the deadline. The scholarship application deadlines are 1 June 2022 for (Trimester 2, 2022), 1 September 2022 (Trimester 3, 2022) and 30 November 2022 for (Trimester 1, 2023). Applications are only available 1 month prior to the closing date.
