During a meeting held earlier between Russian and Ukrainian diplomats, there was an agreement to create humanitarian corridors to help civilians exit Ukrainian cities.
Today, Russia’s defence ministry announced a ceasefire to allow residents of Mariupol and Volnovakha to evacuate.
“Today, March 5, from 10am Moscow time, the Russian side declarers a regime of silence and opens humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians from Mariupol and Volnovakha” the ministry said.
However, nobody knows how long the ceasefire would last and the Ukrainian officials are yet to confirm this announcement too.
Officials from Mariupol hinted that the ceasefire is to last until 4pm.
